Springtime is always nostalgic for me. The first bit of sun on your face, pollen in the air, yadda yadda.
Hasn’t been much of a winter here in Southern California. Much of a spring either. Just been hot hot hot. But we always have the whimsy of memories inside our mindpalace. I think I smelled a flower a few weeks ago.
I’ve been reminiscing on the first DJ mix I ever made. It was 2014, and had just moved to Brooklyn armed with a couple of rickety turntables. I read Bill Brewster’s Last Night a DJ Saved My Life and The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash. After a stoned viewing of the video for Heatwave’s hypnotic “Boogie Nights,” I had fallen in love with Disco, and later discover its younger sister from the 80s, Boogie.
